Amardeep Singh Cheema, a Time Tested and Trusted young leader from State of Punjab , which has more than 67 % of 3.06 Crore population under 40 years of age.
Cheema belongs to a highly celebrated freedom fighter family of village Cheema Khuddi, in District Gurdaspur of Punjab , is son of a veteran trade unionist Mr. MM Singh Cheema who was one of the founding pillar of Indian Trade Union Movement , most vocal voice for communal harmony during peak of terrorism, he led more than 2 thousand families of forced migrants from Punjab border areas which camped at Indian Gate lawns in early 90s.
Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi saw potential in Amardeep during his days of Government in 1988- 89, he has risen in the Ranks starting from grass root level activist to represent Govt. of India on various international Forums as National Vice Chairman of World's Largest Rural Youth Organisation (Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan) under Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India)
Amardeep was handpicked under the Chairmanship of Dr.Manohar Singh Gill to lead world's largest youth organization of Govt. of India, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangthan(NYKS) as National Vice Chairman by Govt. of India, when he was on a foreign training sponsored by Govt. of India in Japan under the “Future Leader of the Nation Program”, later he led Govt. of India delegation to United Nation on Youth Policy and raised issues of Youth Policy and Agriculture Distress on other National & International forums including CHOGM , headed 101 Member strong delegation of Govt. of India to China, which was the initiative taken under Indo- China bilateral relationship. Amardeep Singh Cheema is the only youth leader who was given second term as Vice Chairman in NYKS.
Amardeep an organization person, innovated Four Global Level Youth Engagement Programs Namely Financial Inclusion, Agriculture Extension, Skill Development and Golden Hour Rescue Services on National Highways for involvement of youth in nation building. He chiseled a robust youth cadres in 683 Districts of the country with Membership crossing 75 Lakhs through through 2.60 Lakh Youth Clubs.
Incidentally Cheema was the first one to flag the drugs crises faced by youth in this border State. On his initiative and intervention of Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh ji, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Govt. of India, sanctioned country’s First Anti-Drug drive in Punjab and subsequently Manipur , which was one of it’s kind all inclusive campaign with involvement of all sections of society and all Govt. and Non Govt. stakeholders. Success of this inclusive campaign won many laurels and President of India Sh.Pranab Mukhrerjee awarded this as the Best Campaign in Vigyan Bhawan, on International Day of Drug abuse.
Mr. Cheema a Post Graduate, M.A In Public Administration, a topper of Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar is Computer Engineer by Profession, has systematically developed a cadre of youth workers and Women Self-Help Groups under name and Title of Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Mandals (RGMM) which got instant recognition in National as well as in International forums.
One of his initiative of financial inclusion programme is now “Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojana “ and another novel intiative of "Golden Hour Rescue " project is named as “Life Savers” by Govt. of India.
Mr. Cheema a hardcore organisation person risen in the Ranks, was one of the youngest ever Director on the Board of world's largest Public Sector Insurance Company, LIC of India with 38 Lakh Crore rupee Assets.
A Vocal agriculture innovator served on the Board of Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) and as Member GB- ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) world's largest agriculture system.
A versatile young leader also served on the Board of Directors of Punjab Agro Foodgrains Corporation on agriculture diversification program apart from heading the responsibility of largest Sri Hargobindpur Market Committee (APMC) of the region as Chairman, he was key Member of the high power delegation led by Chief Minister Punjab to Canada , which initiated the process of exporting / marketing Agriculture Produce from India and association of organic farming with Prince Charles in UK.
A capable Youth Leader well connected and respected in different sections of society in Punjab and at central level due to his thorough knowledge of State specific and National issues. A young leader widely believed to have joined the public life after leaving a lucrative MNC job in 1992,widely travelled globally, has specific plans to rejuvenate the energatic young minds at grass-root level which is unattended for many years.
Presently Amardeep Singh Cheema is Member of Most Prestigious National Committee for Promotion of Social & Economic Welfare (NCPSEW),Govt. of India headed by immediate past Chief Justice of India which grants Tax Exemptions and Member of Prestigious Punjab State Board of Drugs Deaddiction & Rehabilitation chaired by Chief Minister Punjab.
Mr.Cheema has discharged the responsibilities as Chairman of Most Prestigious Punjab Health Systems Corporation of Govt. of Punjab where he guided a digitized Patient Registration & Data Handling of availability of Essential drugs eliminating manual interventions and further a highly successful all-inclusive Covid Testing and Vaccination drive involving Health Service Providers, Youth and Social organisations and representatives of Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) i.e Zila Parishad & Block Samiti Members, Sarpanches & Member Panchayats and Urban Local bodies represented by Members of Nagar Panchayats,Nagar Council & Munincipal Corporations with backbone provided by more than 22,000 ASHA workers supervised and motivated by entire medical fraternity of State, which was highly appreciated in Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and NITI Aayog.
